Do Green Cleaning Products Really Work?

Is the socially responsible citizen, whose choice it is to use only environmentally safe cleaning products, doomed to live in a dirty house? I don't think so. There are many products available today that are safe and effective.

Bon Ami is a powder cleanser that states their "5 Simple Ingredients" in big letters on their can: Limestone; feldspar; bidegradable cleaning agents (from coconut and corn); soda ash; and baking soda. Good product for cleaning sinks, and for removing soap scum on shower glass (used wet and gently).

Murphy Oil Soap carries the "Design for the Environment" EPA seal of approval. Great product for cleaning and degreasing finished wood surfaces and painted surfaces, even ceramic tile. Dilute according to directions or buy the "ready-to-use" spray bottle.

Pumie Scouring Sticks are chemical-free pumice stones that work "magic" on toilet bowl rings. Dip the bar in water and safely scrub porcelain, ceramic tile, iron, concrete, masonry and other hard surfaces. Then rinse away. Do not use on polished metals, glass, natural stone, or fiberglass.

Descale-It Products are certified biodegradable. Lime-Eater transforms and softens hard, crusty lime deposits into a soft paste than can easily by wiped and rinsed away. It also contains grease cutters for effective use on many kitchen surfaces. Do not use on wood, natural marble or other stone surfaces.

Green Concepts housecleaning products are safe and effective. Beginning with the discovery of the cleaning power of ocean kelp, they utilize naturally derived and sustainable ingredients to safely remove grease, dirt, grime, mold, soap scum and hard-water deposits from mirrors, counters, sinks, appliances and fixtures. Green Concepts? products carry a number of certifications, including the EPA's Design for the Environment, Green Seal and EcoLogo. These certifications include the most concentrated formulation of Green Concepts? products something that is not true for many housecleaning products that are only certified as "green" and nontoxic after they are diluted. Green Concepts? products also are approved by PETA and are kosher. All housecleaning products from Green Concepts? must meet a "Safe and Superior" standard before they will be sold. This standard exceeds industry standards.

There are countless other products on the market that are safe and effective. The ones I have listed are used by
