Did you know that many of the air fresheners on the market today contain carcinogenic chemicals such as naphthalene and formaldehyde?
There is a better, safer way to make your home smell clean and fresh. Start by removing the source of the offensive odors by regular cleaning. Then try natural fragrances from essential oils or used green tea leaves to deodorize. Drinking green tea provides your body with a powerful anti-oxidant, but the benefits don't have to stop there. Place the used green tea bags in a bowl and leave them, uncovered, in the refrigerator for a few days. Or use them to deodorize pans or cutting boards you have used to prepare fish, garlic, or onions. Use them in kitty litter boxes and on yoga mats. Green tea leaves even make an excellent fertilizer for your plants, as they are high in nitrogen and ward off some pests. Keep in mind that wet tea leaves can stain some surfaces, so use with discretion.
