Microwave touch pad controls carry the potential for trouble if the pressure used for cleaning them is a bit too hard. You may accidentally turn the microwave on or scramble the control commands so that nothing works. There is an easy preventive measure.
Open the door before cleaning the touch pad. Also try to keep your pressure light.Be sure to spray any all-purpose cleaner or dish soap onto your sponge or damp cloth--not directly on the touch pad (excess fluid may run into the cracks and cause damage). Then rinse and dry for a professional look.
Here's a tip for cleaning the inside of the microwave. Pour 1/3 cup lemon juice and 2/3 cup water into a microwave safe bowl. Place the bowl in the center of the microwave and turn it on for 2-3 minutes, then leave it in the oven with the door closed for a few minutes. The steam will loosen any dried-on food particles and the lemon will deodorize the unit. Remove bowl, wipe clean and finish with a dry cloth.
